A Meml of a mortgage
bearing date the Seventh day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety
three from James GREIG of Thomastown in the County of Kilkenny Merchant to
Thomas JACKSON of Parliament Street in the City of Dublin Gent. Whereby the
Sd James GREIG in considern of the sum of three hundred pounds Sterg to him
in hand paid by the said Thomas JACKSON all that and those the dwelling house
and grist mill then in the possession of the said James Grieg and the two
townlands and Cabbins lying between Patrick BERGIN’s house and Cody’s Bridge
then under lease from Michael LAUGHNAN to John BRERETON together with the
piece of Ground that lies between said Mill Pond and to within twelve feet
of the small road leading to Joseph KELLY’s Mill and between the west side of
Cody’s Bridge and Joseph KELLY’s Garden As same was marked and painted out
by said Michael Laughnane in presence of James McENERY and George MINCHIN
and also a small island or spot of waste ground at the South East side of
Cody’s Bridge and adjoining said Bridge containing in front of said Bridge
thirty feet over towards the stream that runs under the second Arch next
Monteen of said Cody’s Bridge which said premises and lotts of ground are
part of the holding called Monteen being part of the Corporation Lands of Thomastown Situate lying and being in the
barony of Goran and County of Kilkenny aforesaid the said premises to be
subject to the same Reservations Savings Clausees and Covenants that the
same Michael LAUGHRAN is bound by lease to Mr. John DAVIS of Summer Hill
and County aforesaid. To hold to the said Thos JACKSON Exors admors and
Assgns for the residue of the term of forty-one years therin mentioned which
Commenced the twenty-fifth day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety
three being the term granted therof to the said James GREIG by lease from
said Michael LAUGHNAN subject to the yearly rent and covenant in said lease
mentioned and subject also to Redemption upon payment of said three hundred
pounds and lawful interestas therin is also mentioned which said dee and
this meml thereof are executed by the said James GREIG in presence and witnessed
by Pierce DILLON and Andrew BUCK both of the City of Dublin Gentleman |

& William Curry of Aughaday, Co Tyrone, Merchant of the other part. Upper
half townland of Kennedies 97 acres together with one acre of bog in the
Townland of Enagh by virtue of a lease [ ] dated the first day of July 1793

and Elizabeth OLIVER both of Ballinahonebeg, Co. Armagh and John SCOTT of
Umgola, Co. Armagh. Reciting that the said John, Mary & Eliza OLIVER had
deemed part of the lands of Ballinahonebeg aforesaid with the bleach mills,
Mill dam, weir and water course therto belonging with several other things -
Reserving thereat Liberty to convey the water from the Mills in the lands of
Kennedies then in the possession of William GARVINs [well?] And reciting that
it was intended by said parties to said lease that the Current of Water in
said dam should be Contd to flow and run in the ame bed it now
occupies so that the Mill is sadi demise be not injured by any decision or
[?] there of. Whereby the said John and Mary & Eliza OLIVER to prevent

Deed of Release bearing date the thirteenth day of April one thousd seven
hund and Ninety seven made betwn Geo. Bartley of the town and Co. of Monaghan
Esqr. Dr. of Phisic of the one part and Thos McCullagh of Derryvalley in Co.
Monaghan Gent of the other part Whereby after reciting as therein recited He
the sd Geo. Bartley for Considns therein mentd did grant assign Release and
Confirm unto sd Thos McCullagh his Heirs and Asss All that and those that
part of the lands of Dunremon and Lossets formerly demised to Jas Wilson decd
therein mentd by a certain Indre of lease therein recited and then in possn
of sd Thos McCullagh and his Undertns cont. by Estmn fifty five acres Irish
Plantn measure or thereabts should the same be more or less sit. lying and
being in the Manor of Derry and Co. of Monaghan with the Apps To have and To
hold the aforesd part of sd lands of Dunremond and Lossets with the apps unto
sd Thos McCullogh his Heirs and Asss for ever subject to the paymt of
eighteen pounds ten shils and five pence yearly part of an Anny of Thirty
pounds therein mentd payable to Grace Bashford therein named during her life
and to one anny of a certain yearly Chief rent of Nineteen shils [?] payable
