NOTE: Since my focus is JACKSONs, I didn’t look much at non-JACKSON witnesses. I have checked the image of the register for all the burials and Baptisms and selected records otherwise. I have sorted the three tables (Marriages; Baptisms and Deaths) chronologically.

Leney in Aghold

Carlow COI,

Aghold

My guess is that “Leney” is the townland of Leany, Parish of Moyacomb, Barony of St. Mullins Upper. This puts it on the eastern border of Co. Carlow. Perhaps significantly, there is no mention of the name JACKSON in that townland in Griffiths.

Worth checking to see if he might be the father of Edward JACKSON (1797-1843). My guess is that “Leney” is the townland of Leany, Parish of Moyacomb, Barony of St. Mullins Upper. This puts it on the eastern border of Co. Carlow. Perhaps significantly, there is no mention of the name JACKSON in that townland in Griffiths.

Jackson, Adam

Graigue, Queens Co.

Carlow COI,

73

1785

His will probate says he died Sept 18, 1858. He was not a husband of Bridget – son Frederick b. 1813. Mention in Griffiths of land in his name. Interestingly, there is an earlier generation (1718) where there is a convergence of the names Adam and Michael SEE: Deed 23-5-122213. Also in Carlow:History and Society p. 600 there is an article written in Irish (which I cannot read) and a reference to an Adam JACKSON (12.8.1806) – seemingly to do with infantry. The name Robert JACKSON is also alongside. It is seemingly the same chart  in “’98 and Carlow” on the Carlow website (thanks to Michael Purcell). It has a Robert JACKSON 1st Lt. and an Adam JACKSON 2nd Lt. In the Cloydagh Infantry  under Captain Rochfort in 1796.

Confirmed

1831 Jun 13

Jackson, William

Carlow COI,

Ballymacklin, Leighlin Bridge

Other names of interest in the list of those confirmed include AGAR and PAYNE. He might be the son of Henry & Mary b. 1814.

1783 May 2 Died Mr. Henry Waddle Merchant who acquired a large fortune by his dealing which he bequeathed to several hospitals in Dublin.

He was buried on the 4th in Carlow Church Yard. His remains were several times insulted by an enraged mob to the place of interment on account

of his not considering the poor of that parish where he amassed so much money.
