I am an absolute novice when it comes to research in Wexford, and am still trying to place several townlands that are mentioned there. My notes beneath illustrate the extent of my ignorance. Bit by bit, I will compare these entries with other sources, and perhaps will learn more about them and their families. In the meantime, if any of these JACKSONs are “yours”, please let me know and I will add their particulars under the notes column.

NOTE: This is by no means an exhaustive list - it is only the ones that I have notes for.

1724 June 24 JACKSON - VESEY

Deed 23 March 1723 Wm VESEY & wife demised to Thomas JACKSON of City of Dublin Esq.  Town and lands of Barrystown & Grantstown, Barony of Dargy, Co. Wexford  311 acres. For lease of 41 years.

I suspect that Dargy  should be Bargy.  Barrystown is in the Parish of Bannow, Barony of Bargy; I could only find a Grantstown at Wellington Bridge, Parish of Ballynakill, in Co. Waterford, slightly east of Waterford City

1743 Nov 26 JACKSON-STEEL Notes in 2009 diary Book Index 1730-1745

Repeats much of the family detail in other BUNBURY-JACKSON deeds re sale of rectories of Kiltagan, etc. The only addition is the description of “being in the Co. Of Wexford, Wicklow & Catherlough [aka Carlow].

This references the Rose JACKSON who married Thomas BUNBURY. She is noted in the Coleraine JACKSON family tree.

1757 Jan 24 BOYCE & Wife-ROBINS

Thomas BOYCE of Grange in Co Wexford & Margaret BOYCE otherwise JACKSON his wife set to Joseph ROBBINS the younger of Ballyduff, Co. Kilkenny Esq.. lands of Ballyvoneen in Barony of Stewardagh & Cumpsy Co of Tipperary

There are 8 townlands named Grange in Co. Wexford, most in the southern part of the County, and one in the upper middle, so I am none the wiser, although the one at Bannow may be the first place to look because of the proximity to Barrystown.
