[1] Thompson BROWN (1837-1915) married Elizabeth JACKSON (1843-1923) in 1867. This letter is four years after their marriage.
[2] Jack PERRY. I assume he was a lawyer or clerk at 11 Bachelors Walk.
[3] Jas EASTWOOD – nothing known as yet
[4] Owen CARRAGHER. In the 1766 Census of Creggan, he lived at Liscalgot – as did George JACKSON (1718-1782), the great-great-grandfather of Sir Thomas JACKSON. In 1822, a will was probated at Clogher for an Owen CARRAGHER of Killybolley. An abstract may be available. I would assume the date of the Deeds Registry property transfer would tie into this. A tombstone in Casteltown Graveyard has a record of a possible relation: CARRAGHER IHS Erected by Michael Carragher of Clanbrazil Street Dundalk in memory of his wife Mary Carragher who departed this life October 6th 1839 aged 61 years. In 1824, a number of CARAGHERs lived at Cullaville, including an Owen and a Patrick CARAGHER. See also DEED: 500-66-312060 dated 1795 Feb 13. One of the famous or rather infamous highwaymen of the region was Big Charlie CARAGHER (a ballad was penned to his fame – So unpopular was this man that for over 250 years not a single Carragher family in South Armagh named a son Charles or its Gaelic equivalent. See: http://www.burnsmoley.com/pages/area/calmor.php ).
[5] Patrick GARLAND – nothing known as yet. I am fishing here. A Patrick GARTLAND of Carrickmacross had a will probated in 1801. In 1847, a Patrick GARTLAN of Ceastlan East had a will probated at Clogher. In the Creggan graveyard, there are a number of Garland remains: James GARLAN of Corlat d. 1787, his daughter Mary d 1789 and her sister Anne d 1790 and their brother Richard d 1840; James’ brother Nicholas d. 1788
[6] Otherwise known as Kiltybane: (I am assuming this is the place in spite of the variant spelling) AKA-Lisleitrum was 447 acres in the Upper Fews, Parish Newtonhamilton, Co. Armagh
[7] Sam BUCHANAN – nothing known as yet
[8] Bernard GARLAND – nothing known as yet
[9] Mrs. Elizabeth Johanna DONALDSON (1817-1900) nee JACKSON, wife of John DONALDSON and daughter of John JACKSON & Elizabeth McCULLAGH. She was already widowed by this time.
[10] Margaret BRADFORD (1786-1874) sister of Barbara BRADFORD and a great aunt of Elizabeth Johanna JACKSON.
