OLIVER-McMORRAN
[This memorial was very hard to read] Between John OLIVER[1] of Armagh Gent & Samuel OLIVER[2] of Monaghan, Co. Monaghan sadler of the one part & Robt McMORRAN[3] of Tullymore, Co. Armagh farmer of the other part. John & Samuel OLIVER signed over to Robert McMORRAN 29.2 Acres. Witness Leonard DOBBIN[4], Armagh
NOTE: John HANNA[5] m Matilda McMORRAN
SEE ALSO: 1811, April 8 DEED:
640-359-440211 In this deed, John OLIVER signed
over 29 acres of Tullymore to Samuel OLIVER for £100. The fact that the acreage
is about the same would seem to indicate a connection.
[1] John
OLIVER of Armagh Gent. I have no absolute proof of who he is. One possible (and quite good) prospect is that he was the
son born aft 1764 of Joseph OLIVER (1726-1796) of Ballyrea & Ballynahonebeg
and Jane OATS.
[2] Samuel
OLIVER of Monaghan, Co. Monaghan sadler. Ballybay Church records mention a
Samuel OLIVER who married a Mary WILLIAMSON and had three children in the 1830s
(Robert, Rachel & William OLIVER and then possibly a Samuel OLIVER later at
Cahans Presbyterian Church).
[3] Robt
McMORRAN of Tullymore, Co. Armagh farmer
[4] Leonard
DOBBIN, Armagh. The DOBBIN family has more than one historic connection to the
OLIVERs – many links I cannot yet prove. Leonard DOBBIN witnessed many of their
deeds.
[5] John
HANNA m Matilda McMORRAN. Of interest with respect to the linen family
connections, WILLIAM MCKEAN of Millmount, Keady who was
born 1850, and died 9 December 1911 in Montano, Malone Park, Belfast married LYDIA HANNA
3 June 1875 in Elmwood Presbyterian, daughter of JOHN
HANNA and MATILDA
MCMORRAN. He owned the mills at Keady. Matilda’s father
was John McMORRAN (1765-1817) – I would suspect a connection to Robert. This John
McMORRAN was from Glascow SOURCE: PRONI D/991/6/1/9. My interest in the HANNA
connection is because in 18th July 1823 John & Eleanor HANNA of
Mullahara (or Mullyera) had a son, George
OLIVER. SOURCE: Tedavnet Church records.
