1796 COULTER Flax growers: Premiums for growing flax.
I have annotated this table with footnotes that indicate where we might profitably look next in terms of seeking connections to the family tree, or to connect with what has been learned from other tables. There is still a lot more to learn. As always!

[1] Charles COULTER is not as yet in the known family tree, but geography suggests that he is likely to be connected to the other COULTER families of Creggan. There was also a Charles COULTER who was a church warden at Creggan Church in 1783. A Charles COULTER also appears in the Creggan Church Registry in 1775 and 1776.
[2] Henry COULTER is not as yet in the known family tree, but geography suggests that he is likely to be connected to the other COULTER families of Creggan. Perhaps significantly, a Henry COULTER has a will probated in 1817. He was from Gortomlet, Co. Tyrone.
[3] Phillipstown. In 1788, a John COULTER had a will probated. He was from Carrickastuck, Parish of Phillipstown. I would suspect that he was related to the Henry COULTER.
[4] Joseph COULTER. It is possible that this was the son of Alexander COULTER (1637-1721) of Lisnawolly. We know nothing as yet about him.
[5] James COULTER. There is a John COULTER of Monaghan in about the same time frame who was a linen merchant of Ballybay. He married Jane BARTLEY and one of their children was the much better documented Rev. John COULTER (1796-1877) of Lossett, He is likely connected to the COLTERs mentioned in the Brownlow Leasebook: "That parcel of Billiblagh late in COLTERS possession”. The two – James and John – are also likely connected. Another of John COULTER & Jane BARTLEY’s children married Samuel GILMORE of Liscalgot, Parish of Creggan. This leads me to suspect that there is a more than passing relationship between the COULTERs of Monaghan and the COULTERs of Co. Louth. We do know that 20 years earlier, there was a James COULTER and a John COULTER in “five towns” Co. Louth. The townland of Cavananore would be a good bet for the two of them.
[6] A David COULTER had a will probated in 1808. He was from Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. There was also a David COULTER who was a freeholder in 1753 at Cladymore, Parish of Kilclooney, Co. Armagh and again in 1819, 1825 & 1832 (not likely the same David COULTER).
[7] William COULTER. In 1763, a William COULTER had a will probated. He was from Mullaghmore, Co. Tyrone. There is possibly a connection.
