Creggan Parish Residents, 1776
These are the names that are most likely related to members of our extended family. I do not have access to this source right now. I believe I accessed it in Ireland years ago – but early on in my research, I neglected to keep notes of sources. An act of great folly. If and when I can get to this census again, other family names would be of interest, in particular the names of DICKIE and BAILIE.
The “Five Towns” refers to the Creggan townlands that are in Co. Louth. At present, there are 10 townlands that would fit this designation: Annaghvacky, Cavananore, Clonaleenaghan, Courtbane, Killyclessy, Rassan, Shanmullagh, Sheelagh, Tawnamore, and Treagh. I do not know what the original five would have been. I suspect that Cavananore would be one of them, given the known COULTER references.
