COULTER NAMES THAT ARE NOT IN KNOWN FAMILY TREES – Creggan Church
Significantly, I can make no matches for any of the COULTERs mentioned in the parts of the Parish Register which are available for Creggan Church. This is curious. There are COULTERs mentioned that tie into our family tree in Creggan: Guide to Creggan Church and Graveyard. Kevin McMahon & Jem Murphy. Creggan Historical Society, 1988 and also in Creggan Journal of the Creggan Local History Society, 1989 Vol 1-No 3. Ed. Kevin McMahon. I suspect that we must be missing some of the connecting bits. Unfortunately, the BMD records that I have been able to find cover a limited time frame, the earliest being a burial in 1807.

COULTERs from Annavaghy, Parish of Creggan, Co. Louth Annavaghy is on the south-eastern border of Cavananore and is a townland long associated with the COULTERs. It is about 5km south-east of Creggan Church (SEE Map 36 of Ordnance Survey). It is likely also significant that Andrew Coulter BRADFORD (1788-1846) & Thomas BRADFORD(1797-1872) held lands at Annavaghy as well as Cavananore. They were both grandsons of Barbara BRADFORD nče COULTER.
