2.  News Letter (Belfast, Northern Ireland), News Letter (Belfast, Northern Ireland) Aug 8, 2001.  2001 HISTORY came back to life yesterday as one of Ireland's oldest hotels opened again for business. Up to 50 full- and part-time jobs have been created with the re-opening of Walsh's Hotel in Maghera. Located in the centre of Maghera, at the corner of Main Street and the Coleraine Road, the original building, dating back to the 18th century, was rooted in local history and deeply connected with the development of the town. The new hotel has been rebuilt on the original site and refurbished into a traditional style interior, while offering disabled access. The original Walsh's Hotel, formerly known as The Inn of Maghera, has a long and chequered history. The ground on which it stands, once the property of See of Derry and the famous Earl of Bristol, was sold to his immediate tenant, Rev William Mauleverer.

3.  NOTE, His crest is on a stained glass window in Armagh Cathedral which included all those who had donated money for the 1834 restoration of the Cathedral.

4.  Thomas McKeown and Kevin McMahon, Agrarian Disturbances around Crossmaglen, 1835-1855: Part V, Seanchas Ardmhacha: Journal of the Armagh Diocesan Historical Society, Vol. 12, No., All sons were supposedly solicitors. There were supposedly 4-5 of them.

5.  NOTE, Thias was after the birth of two of his sons,  so in all liklihood, there was a previous marriage.

6.  Newry Examiner, 1850 MAy 29, She is mentioned as living in Armagh with her two daughters at the time of the murder of her son. .

7.  Griffiths Valuations, Bellingham MAULEVER had substantial land holdings in Co. Londonderry. I suspect that he lived in Tamnymullen in the holding valued at £26.0.0. Given the murder of his brother Robert and his brother’s connection to the JACKSONs, it is significant that James BARKELY (brother-in-law of Sarah JACKSON who had married his brother Rev. Joseph BARKELY) had dwellings beside his including an unfinished house valued at £15.0.0.

8.  Thomas McKeown and Kevin McMahon, Agrarian Disturbances around Crossmaglen, 1835-1855: Part V, Seanchas Ardmhacha: Journal of the Armagh Diocesan Historical Society, Vol. 12, No., All brothers were supposedly solicitors. There were supposedly 4-5 of them.

9.  PRONI Will Abstracts, Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Bellingham Mauleverer late of Tamneymullin County Londonderry Esquire deceased who died 10 June 1872 at same place were granted at Londonderry to Anne Mauleverer of Armagh Spinster the Sister and one of the next of kin of said deceased. Effects under £5,000 .

10.  St Lurach's Church, Maghera, inscription in graveyard of St Lurach's Church, Maghera : Beneath are laid the remains of Bellingham Mauleverer of Annescliff near Maghera esquire who departed this life 10th. June 1872 aged 69 years. This stone is also sacred to the memory of Robert Lindsay Mauleverer esquire youngest brother of above and of the same place who departed this life 23rd. May 1850 aged 59 years . . .' NOTE If Robert was a younger brother of Bellingham (and I suspect that he was), then Bellingham had to be older at his death than Robert was. I suspect a transcription error and that the age at death should have been 39. Notes in "PArish of Creggan" gave his age at death as 40 years. NOTE: Anniscliff Care Home looks to be (on a Goopgle map) on the A29 on the Coleraine Rd. just outside Maghera. There is also a Anniscliff House on 141 Moneysharven Rd. which is just down the road from the Care Home.

11.  Nick Reddans News abstracts, LEP-CS 1829 5 29 NPM MAULEVERER Bellingham Esq Bellingham MAULEVERER Esq to Mary youngest daughter of Robert LINDSAY of Loughry, county Tyrone Esq   .

14.  Hunch.

15.  PRONI Will Abstracts, The Will of Maria Olivia Mauleverer late of Armagh County Armagh Spinster deceased who died 16 September 1882 at same place was proved at Armagh by Anne Mauleverer of the Mall Armagh Spinster the sole Executrix. Effects £1,080 4s. 5d. .

16.  James B. Leslie, Armagh clergy and parishes : being an account of the clergy of the Church of Ireland in the Diocese of Armagh, from the earliest period, with historic, 1824— James Mauleverer, B.A., Lie. Sep. 29 {D.B.). See Middletown.   1835— James Mauleverer, Lie. Oct. 20 (D.R.), son of Rev. Wm. M.. Preb.   of Tynan, q.v. ; T.C.D. B.A. 1822 ; M.A. 1830 ; C. Derryloran 1824 ;   C. Tynan 1834 ; d. in 1847. A memorial tablet erected to him in Tynan   church by his mother states that " his life was devoted to the service of   his Divine Master, and the disease, which after a few days illness termin-   ated in his death, was contracted in the discharge of his ministerial   duties. He died on the 26th September, 1847, aged 46 years." His P.   Will was proved in 1848. p374 Parish of Middletown, Perpetual Curates, &c. Armagh Clergy.

17.  Parish of Creggan, He died unmarried.

18.  Thomas McKeown and Kevin McMahon, Agrarian Disturbances around Crossmaglen, 1835-1855: Part V, Seanchas Ardmhacha: Journal of the Armagh Diocesan Historical Society, Vol. 12, No., We regret to state that Robert Lindsay Mauleverer, who acted as agent for Mr. Tipping, was barbarously murdered on the public road between Crossmaglen and Culloville. Mr. Mauleverer, who was a native of Maghera, Co. Derry, was a man in the prime of life, and yesterday an inquest was held on his remains in the house of Mr. Brian McDonnell, of Crossmaglen.

19.  St Lurach's Church, Maghera, This stone is also sacred to the memory of Robert Lindsay Mauleverer esquire youngest brother of above [Bellingham] and of the same place who departed this life 23rd. May 1850 aged 59 years . . .' NOTE If Robert was a younger brother of Bellingham (and I suspect that he was), then Bellingham had to be older at his death than Robert was. I suspect a transcription error and that the age at death should have been 39. Had he died at age 59, then he would have been born in 1791. I believe his more likely birth date is 1811. This hunch is buttressed by notes in "Parish of Creggan" which gave his age at death as 40 years. .
