[1] Adam JACKSON. I may be wrong, but I believe that the Adam JACKSON mentioned here is the same one mentioned in other Carlow holdings. I believe him to be the Adam JACKSON b: 1785 d: 20 Sep 1858 of Graigue, Queens Co., Ireland Married: Bridget Jackson. He was the son of Michael & Rebecca JACKSON and brother of Frances JACKSON. He may also have been a brother of William (1783-1846) and Robert (1740-1803). NOTE: There is also a reference to participation as a 2nd Lt in the Cloydagh Infantry.
[2] William JACKSON. Going by the size of his house, he is of the same social standing as Adam JACKSON. He may be a brother and be the William JACKSON(1783-1846) of Graigue, Queens Co. This is inferred from Carlow BMD records which show them both to be “of Graigue”.
[3] Andrew W. JACKSON. Again, a house similar in value to both Adam and William. I do not know who he was. Since there is a family tradition in one of the JACKSON lines that there was a WALKER family connection, it may be that his full name was: Andrew Walker JACKSON.
[4] Edward JACKSON. There are a number of families in Co. Carlow who name their sons “Edward JACKSON”. The earliest use of the name that I found so far is the son of Roger JACKSON whose son Edward died in 1703. There are no slam dunks for this name so far.
[5] Thomas JACKSON, a merchant in Dublin. It would seem that he was the same one who held other leases in Co. Carlow.
LECKY to JACKSON Registered the 21st of January 1723 at 4 a clock in the afternoon.
[6] Thomas JACKSON. I have no idea where he might fit.
[7] Henry JACKSON
[8] Elizabeth JACKSON
[9] Susan JACKSON. There are a couple of possibilities known to me. She could be Susanna JACKSON née WEEKS or Susannah JACKSON née DOCKALL (wife of Peter)
[10] George JACKSON of Hoare’s Lane Tullow Town.
[11] Benjamin JACKSON. There was a Benjamin JACKSON (1764-1849) of Leney. I do not know if there was any connection, nor do I know where “Leney” was.
[12] Eagle Hill. There are a few connections of interest with respect to the JACKSONs and Eagle Hill.
[13] Susannah JACKSON. There are a couple of possibilities known to me. She could be Susanna JACKSON née WEEKS or Susannah JACKSON née DOCKALL (wife of Peter)
[14] John JACKSON
[15] Joseph JACKSON. He is possibly linked to the JACKSONs mentioned in the Deeds of 1834 SEE:
[16] Benjamin JACKSON
[17] Samuel JACKSON. Since the acreage of 38 acres matches the mention in PRONI T808, I assume it is the same piece of land: 38 acres leased 1788 by Estyer [Esther?] JACKSON to Thomas JACKSON bounded by River Dereen & Samuel & Joseph JACKSON. If so, this would make him an son of Joseph & Rachel JACKSON, deceased by 1834.
[18] Henry JACKSON I suspect that he was the Henry JACKSON jr. mentioned in the 1834 leases. The acreages and valuations mentioned in Griffiths are low, but the presence of a forge may be a useful clue to follow. A Henry JACKSON shows up in the Carlow BMD records a few times as a witness for residents of Coolmana, but not in any other way.
[19] Joseph JACKSON. One possibility is that the was the Joseph JACKSON of Rathvilly who married Elizabeth HUGHES in 1823.
[20] William JACKSON
[21] Thomas JACKSON. At present my best guess is that he was a son of John JACKSON and Sarah JACKSON née JACKSON. See his mention in Williamstown land mentions.
[22] Peter JACKSON. At present my best guess is that he was a son of John JACKSON and Sarah JACKSON née JACKSON. His wife was Susan DOCKALL
[23] John JACKSON
[24] Joseph JACKSON
[25] Ann JACKSON
[26] William, Robert & John JACKSON. Presumably brothers. They may have been sons of Michael JACKSON. The lease from BUNBURY may be significant since a Rose JACKSON married Thomas BUNBURY.
[27] Elizabeth JACKSON
[28] James JACKSON
[29] Rachel JACKSON. The first Rachel JACKSON in this area that I have seen is in 1700 as a child of Roger JACKSON. In 1836, A Rachel JACKSON of Leany and her husband Edward JACKSON (policeman) had a child Amelia. A Thomas JACKSON married a Rachel CODE (b. 1805) and emigrated to Lanark Co., Ontario. It is possible that she was the one who was the wife of Joseph JACKSON mentioned in the 1834 deeds.
[30] James JACKSON
[31] John JACKSON
[32] Thomas JACKSON
[33] Isaac JACKSON. The name “Isaac” is most often mentioned in connection with the Quaker JACKSONs.
[34] Williamstown & JACKSONs:
[35] John JACKSON
[36] Thomas JACKSON of “Brook”. I do not know where “Brook” is, but I wonder if he might be connected to the JACKSONs of the 1834 deeds.
[37] Thomas JACKSON of “Bough”, Parish of Rahill. See mention of his land there. At present my best guess is that he was a son of John JACKSON and Sarah JACKSON née JACKSON. See Williamstown footnote.
[38] Joseph JACKSON of “Brook”. I do not know where “Brook” is, but I wonder if he might be connected to the JACKSONs of the 1834 deeds.
[39] Joseph Jackson of Carlow.
