Jackson BMI COI 1600.
SOURCES: I have used various sources. Most entries come from this fabulous resource: http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
Others come from: The Register of the Parish of S. Peter and S. Kevin, Dublin 1669-1761. Preface James Mills. London 1911. Includes many transcriptions done by Gertrude Thrift.
I have colour coded some of the entries that represent family groups – or potential family groupings - and where feasible, I have also entered them into tentative family trees. My notes are added in red.
NOTE: St. Michan’s Parish is interesting in terms of JACKSON lineage. In 1847, Richard Robert Madden pointed out that the place that Oliver BOND (husband of Eleanor JACKSON who was the daughter of Henry JACKSON of Church Street – “an opulent citizen of Dublin”) was interred in the place where the JACKSONs of Lisnaboe had graves. Also, the Rev William JACKSON (who died at King’s Court 1795) was buried in this graveyard. SOURCE: http://www.thesilverbowl.com/documents/newsclippings/1847Mar27-OliverBOND.html
Stephen Jackson (?- 1689) smith of St. Michan Parish . .. +Margaret Parkes - 1675 ........ 2 Francis Jackson 1672 - 1673 ........ 2 John Jackson 1674 - ........ 2 Bridget Jackson 1674 - 1675 *2nd Wife of Stephen Jackson: .. +Ann Unnamed NOTE: No date of death noted. ........ 2 Thomas Jackson 1676 - ........ 2 Arnald Jackson 1678 – *3rd Wife of Stephen Jackson: .. +Ellinor Unnamed NOTE: She may have been wife #2 – just an alternative name. NOTE: Thanks to Jan Waugh, I see that the Prerogative wills include: 1748: Ellinor DUNCAN alias JACKSON and 1740 Andrew DUNCAN, London, Surgeon – possibly her 2nd husband. ........ 2 Alice Jackson - 1683 ........ 2 John Jackson - 1683 NOTE: He may have been a son of the first marriage. ........ 2 Rowland Jackson - 1686 |
Captain Oliver JACKSON is likely the same Oliver JACKSON who is in the Carramore family tree. He was the son of Francis & Elizabeth JACKSON. The linking of the two entries for a Frances JACKSON does not mean that Oliver was the father in both instances. The baptism is for a Frances, daughter of Capt. Oliver JACKSON while the burial is for a Frances daughter of a Capt. JACKSON. Also, the two events are from two different parishes. The baptism is at St. Michan’s and the burial at St. Johns. Still, there is a connection of profession and name that means they are worth looking at together. |
William and Barbara JACKSON married in 1629. He died 1677 and she died 1678). It is possible that Ann and William were two of their children. |
Thomas & Susan JACKSON. Again, thanks to Jan Waugh: I suspect these are their children: John bap 23 Apr 1637; William 23 May 1639; Francis 23 May 1639 all at St. Michan's Dublin. (LDS |
John JACKSON was a tailor (d. 1675). He and wife Ann had two children noted beneath. Sarah b. 1669 & William who was born and died October 1672. They may be connected to the JACKSONs of Wicklow and Co. Carlow. |
John JACKSON, a coachman, and his wife Catherine (d. 1686) had a daughter Elizabeth who d. 1682. |
William JACKSON a soldier of St. Michan’s Parish d. 8 April 1681. In 1675, a wife Jane died. In 1684, a Benjamin JACKSON son of William JACKSON was buried. |
John JACKSON soldier and Margaret his wife d. 1683 of St. Michan’s. Daughter, Mary d. 1680. |
Joseph JACKSON, a corporal, and his wife Mary of St Auroen Parish had a number of children with short lives: Mary, baptised Sept 19 1682 likely was the same Mary who died October 26th; Elizabeth baptised Sept 1684 d July 1685; William baptised Nov 1685 died December 1685; a likely son, Joseph, died Feb 1687; Benjamin baptised Nov 1688 seems to be the only one to escape mention in the burials. |
Capt. William JACKSON & wife Elizabeth had daughter Elizabeth in 1692 while at Angier St. And daughter Jane 1696 while at York St. |
Robert JACKSON tanner married in 1680 Joyce SHAW and had sons: Robert; William; John; Thomas[bap 1682] and a daughter who married Jeremaiah VICARS. Robert’s will was dated 1711. It is curious that there is no record of his burial at St. Catherine. DEED: 43-421-28800 Indenture May 6, 1724 Wm. JAMES of Athy. Co. Kildare, Tanner did demise & set to Robert JACKSON of Crooked Staff in Co. Dublin Tanner and Josiah JACKSON of Glassholly, Co. Kildare Farmer lease of house in Athy from Robert JACKSON to Josiah JACKSON for 22 years. |
