At present, as far as I can get with the OLIVER-ROCK branch of the family tree recorded in these records is as pasted beneath. The trick will be to find out the name of the OLIVER who is at the head of this part of the family tree. I suspect it will be a John OLIVER.
If we could prove this, we may be able to click him into the larger OLIVER tree which stretched back to the late 1600s and originated with an early Huguenot settlement. Initially, most of the related OLIVERs in this region were Presbyterian, Quaker, or Church of Ireland. I do not know when or how frequently the switch to Catholic happened.
With respect to other ROCK-OLIVER connections in this time frame, it is also worth noting that William OLIVER (abt 1810-1873) left £50 to Sarah ROCK, his housekeeper, and also his niece described him as having died unchurched – she didn’t use the word: unmarried.

In trying to go one step further back than where the baptismal records can take us, I have also looked up some of the aforementioned names in the notes I have from the Deeds Registry in Dublin.
There are a few ROCK mentions in some Deeds (although I have yet to get to them). Since it seems that Margaret ROCK had a brother, Patrick, it may be that their father was also named Patrick ROCK (NOTE: The name also shows up as ROX and ROCKS):
2. DEED: 73-468-52031 1730-1745 ROCK, Patrick-HANNING
3. DEED: 258-140-168460 1766 Nov 6 ROCK, Patrick-JACKSON 1730-1745 Vicars Choral of Cathedral Church of St. Patricks, Dublin of 1st part & Revd JACKSON of Forkhill lodge, Co. Armagh Esq. demised to JACKSON land south of Kings Street near St. Stephens Green als Hoggin Green 285’ on North to Kings Pavement 250’ on east & 306’ on south to Rapparce Alley for Rev. Richard JACKSON. Witness Samuel AIKIN, Wm SANDERSON servant, Francis WHYTE of Redhills, Co. Cavan, Esq.
The OLIVER M’GLONE connection is also interesting. In The Belfast Newsletter on Aug 6-9 1782 and also Jan 8 1798 a Thomas M’GLONE shows up as a linen trader. Both Arthur & Benjamin OLIVER are also signatories to the earlier press release. There are four M’GLONE mentions in deeds that connect either to OLIVERs or to townlands where the OLIVERs were known to hold leases (and there may be more – I didn’t search under that surname)
The only DONNELLY mention that I have found is a deed I have yet to look up:
[i] I had the pleasure of Meeting Francis OLIVER & Esther in 2003 and have since been able to cobble together some of his family tree, albeit not the part most interesting to me – who was his great-great grandfather. I suspect it was a John OLIVER..
[ii] Tullynickle is in Eglish Parish, Co. Armagh.
[iii] The Philipstown reference is intriguing because of the long term DONALDSON presence at Philipstown, Co. Louth.
[iv] It is possible that this Joseph OLIVER is a son of John OLIVER & Margaret ROCK since there was one born in 1874, but I have no proof of his parents’ names at this time.
[v] This is a repeat of record #9.
[vi] This Patrick ROX aka ROCKS is likely to be Margaret’s brother (whose names is known to us) or her father (whose name is not yet known to us)
[vii] This is a repeat of record #13 – except that the father’s name is given as James OLIVER. Otherwise all other information is identical..
[viii] Farmacaffley is a Parish with long-term OLIVER connections going back to 1664 where an Andrew OLIVER was recorded on the Hearth Rolls. Also, page 11 of Irish Ancestry of Henry (William) OLIVER mentions a William OLIVER born about 1670 possibly at SherranmcAghully (aka Farmacaffley).
[ix] I wonder if “Fox” should have been “Rox”?
