JACKSONs in registers of ships travelling from England to Ireland. NOTE: This is just a start on this.

The frequent journeys by JACKSONs from England to Ireland in the 1630s is interesting. At present, I have no knowledge about if or how these people in the chart beneath may or may not be related. There are certainly a few tantalizing mentions of JACKSONs in Coleraine prior to the 1630s, and their eventual full time settlement in Ireland happened soon after – if not before.

William	Jackson	1572	1632 Sep 30	Liverpool	Coleraine	He was 60 years old. NOTE: He was not the same William JACKSON (abt 1575-1626) of Kirkby Lonsdale who was the grandfather of most of the later JACKSONs of Coleraine. His voyage is, however, a fit with the family narrative of many of the JACKSON men being merchants – drapers or Clothworkers –who travelled back and forth between England and Ireland in the early 1600s.

Thomas	Jackson	1603	1633  Jul 27	Chester	Dublin	He was 30 years old.
John	Jackson	1593	1633 Aug 12	Chester	Carrickfergus	He was 40 years old. There is a slight possibility that this John JACKSON could be the father of the Robert JACKSON born btw 1619-1624 of Eccleston, Lancashire. This Robert JACKSON died 1679 – probably in Co. Down. His descendants held leases to land in the parish of Dundonald and Newtown, Co. Down. SEE: Ratliffe JACKSON beneath. His name is directly after John’s name on the register. They are likely related.
Ratliffe	Jackson	1579	1633 Aug 12	Chester	Carrickfergus	He was 54 years old. I cannot be certain that the name has been correctly transcribed, although it looks like Ratliffe. SEE: John JACKSON above. His name preceded Ratliffe’s name in the record. They are likely related.
