Besides Colonel Fitzgeralds, another of Lord Kitchener’s legatees passed away in the person of Colonel Raymond Marker who figured early on the Roll of Honour, dying in hospital at Bologne of wounds received in November 1914.  Colonel Marker was a favourite aid-de-camp of the Field-Marshal who had a genuine regard for this Coldstream Guardsmen, a splendid soldier, clever writer and most delightful companion.  Colonel Mark Kerr was a nephew of Lord Digby and married a daughter of the late Sir Thomas Jackson of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank.
