NOTE: This tree is interesting when looked at in connection with the Jacksons of Glanbeg. In each tree, there is a Mary WALLIS, daughter of Thomas WALLIS who marries a Jackson. In the Glanbeg tree, it is a Thomas JACKSON and in the Ahanesk tree, it is a George JACKSON. Whether this is a coincidence, or an error in the secondary sources that I used (ie. Burkes), or whether there is a relationship here still to be discovered, I do not as yet know (for example, a brother married his brother's widow). I have an outline tree here followed by a detailed report. This tree is not included at this time on my Rootsweb tree.

NOTE: It is also interesting with respect to the BARKER-JACKSON connections in a few deeds in Co. Carlow. You can find them on my deeds page.

Updated October 12, 2022.The Convert Rolls 1703-1838: p141: Jackson, Rowland, Dr. of Physic. Cert 22 July 1763 enrolled 29 July 1763 (A) Jackson Rowland, MD of Dublin, confromity 22 July 1763 (B) (D) NOTE: (from pg. xiv: A protestant man marrying a 'popish maiden or woman' having converted her and obtained a certificate to that effect, 'shall procure the said certificate to be enrolled in the Court of Chancery'. NOTE: (A) refers to the Calendar of Covert Rolls (the original was destroyed in 1922); (B) refers to the source compiled by John Lodge. (C)refers to a pamphlet printed in Dublin in 1732; (D) includes convert oath takers not found in the other sources. They were often referred to as 'of Dublin' - possibly to protect some level of anonymity. NOTE: My assumption is that he was: Dr. Rowland Jackson b:1723  d: 29 March 1784 in of Ballyboy, Co. Tipperary, Ireland.

This family was settled at Ballyduff and Glanbeg, county Waterford by the end of the 17th century. By the early 19th century the head of the family Edward Rowland Jackson was residing at Castleview, county Cork. At the time of Griffith's Valuation the Jackson's estate was located in the parishes of Mogeesha and Little Island, barony of Barrymore, and Kilcorcoran, barony of Duhallow, county Cork. Warren Hastings Rowland Jackson died in 1851. In the 1870s his son William O. Jackson of Ahanesk, Midleton, owned 3,491 acres in county Cork and 1,052 acres in county Waterford. William's only daughter Cherry married Henry Sadlier of the county Tipperary family and they eventually inherited Ahanesk. In 1850 the house at Glenbeg, county Waterford, and 175 acres, the property of George Bennett Jackson, were offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court. SOURCE: Landed Estates: Galway
