This tree connects the COULTERs of Mounthill, Shortstone, Silverbridge, and Liscalgot. The footnotes do not work in this format - I am still on a learning curve with all this. Details can be viewed on the Rootsweb version of my tree.

Descendants of Samuel COULTER

First Generation

1. Samuel COULTER [5291]1 was born about 1780 and died in 1841 of Mounthill, Co. Louth2 aged about 61.

General Notes: Birth date a hunch based on age of children Samuel married (wife unknown) .

His children were:

i. Samuel COULTER [5289]3 was born about 1810 of Mount Hill, Co. Louth4 and died on 3 May 1851 in Shortstone, Co. Louth aged about 41. See: Murder of Samuel COULTER

ii.  Jane COULTER [10021] was born about 1813 of Mount Hill. Co. Louth.

iii.  John COULTER [10022]6 was born about 1817 of Mount Hill, Co. Louth and died before 1892.7

Second Generation (Children)

2. Samuel COULTER [5289]1 was born about 1810 of Mount Hill, Co. Louth2 and died on 3 May 1851 in Shortstone, Co. Louth aged about 41. Samuel married Mary BAILIE [5290]' [MRIN: 2023], daughter of John BAILIE [7218] and Unknown,.

Children from this marriage were:

i.       John Bailie COULTER [5293]4 was born on 26 Jun 1 8485 and died about 19216 aged about 73.

ii.     Samuel COULTER [5294]7 was born about 1851 and died after 1911.8

4. John COULTER [10022r was born about 1817 of Mount Hill, Co. Louth and died before 1892. 10

General Notes: There is a gap of six years with no baptisms recorded at Creggan. It may mean that we are looking at two separate families, although I have put them all in one in my family tree for now. It may also mean that the family went elsewhere for a while. It is unlikely to see a fertility pattern of a child every two years, then an eight year gap, and then another child every two years or so.

Noted events in his life were: He was confirmed of Mounthill in 1833 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh. Age 16.

John married Frances [10115] [MRIN: 3692].

i.       Elizabeth COULTER [10116] was born in 1840 in Mounthill aka Ballynaghy, Parish of Seagoe, Co. Armagh and was christened on 21 Jun 1840 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

ii.     Samuel COULTER [7354]11 was born about 1842 in Mounthill aka Ballynaghy,Parish of Seagoe, Co. Armagh, was christened on 18 Oct 1842 in Creggan Church Of Ireland, Creggan, Co. Armagh, and died about 188812 aged about 46.

iii.   William COULTER [10118] was born in 1848 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh and was christened on 10 Nov 1848 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

iv.   Anne COULTER [4960] was born in 185013 and was christened on 30 Jul 1850 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh.

v.     Maria COULTER [4939] was born in 1852 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond. Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh and was christened on 26 Jun 1852 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

vi.   Andrew COULTER [2359]14 was born in 1855 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond. Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh,13 was christened on 5 May 1855 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh, and died on 16 Jun 1924 of Silverbridge House, Co. Armagh 5 aged 69.

vii. Frances COULTER [10117] was born in 1858 in Glasdrumond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh and was christened on 10 Dec 1858 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

viii.         John COULTER [4946] was born in 1861 in Glasdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh13 and was christened on 12 Nov 1861 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

Third Generation (Grandchildren)

8. Samuel COULTER [7354]1 was born about 1842 in Mounthill aka Ballynaghy, Parish of Seagoe, Co. Armagh, was christened on 18 Oct 1842 in Creggan Church Of Ireland, Creggan, Co. Armagh, and died about 18882 aged about 46. Samuel married Emily Wilhelmina BAILIE [723912 [MRIN: 2726], daughter of William BAILIE [5667] and Adelaide Louise DE GUERIN [5669], on 14 Aug 1880 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.' Emily was born on 31 Jan 1857 in Annavacky, Co. Louth, Ireland4 and died after 1911.

Children from this marriage were:

i.John COULTER [7355] was born on 24 Jan 1881 in Glassdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh, was christened on 27 Jan 1881 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh. and died on 10 Jul 1953 aged 72.

ii.   Elizabeth COULTER [7356] was born about 1885.

iii.  Samuel COULTER [7357] was born on 24 Jun 1887 and died on 9 Nov 1947 of Glassdrumman, Parish Of Creggan, Co. Annagh7 aged 60.

iv.  Adelaide COULTER [10119] was born in 1882 in Glassdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh and was christened on 27 Mar 1882 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

v.   Andrew COULTER [10120] was born in 1883 in Glassdrummond, Parish of Creggan. Co. Armagh and was christened on 8 Nov 1883 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh.

10. Anne COULTER [4960] was born in 18508 and was christened on 30 Jul 1850 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh. Anne married John COWAN [4940]8 [MIN: 1083] on 7 Nov 1871 in Creggan Church Of Ireland, Creggan, Co. Armagh.8 John was born about 1852.

Children from this marriage were:

i.  Frances COWAN [4941] was born about 1873 in Liverpoo1.8

ii.William COWAN [4942] was born about 1878 in Liverpoo1.8

iii.Elizabeth COWAN [4943] was born about 1880 in Liverpoo1.8

iv. Helena COWAN [4944]9 was born about 1883 in Liverpool.

v. Nora COWAN [4945]8 was born about 1890 in Liverpool.

12. Andrew COULTER [2359] was born in 1855 in Ballsmill, Glasdrummond, Parish of Creggan, Co. Armagh,8 was christened on 5 May 1855 in Creggan Parish Church, Armagh, and died on 16 Jun 1924 of Silverbridge House, Co. Armagh" aged 69. Andrew married Elizabeth WARRINER [4923] 12 [MRIN: 199], daughter of Edward WARRINER [4961] and Unknown, on 17 Feb 1892 in Wesleyan Chapel, Seacombe, Co. Birkinhead & Chester, England."' Elizabeth was born about 1859 and died on 9 Aug 1923" aged about 64.

NOTES: Andrew COULTER, a Liverpool merchant and one of the founders of the well-known firm of Lovell & Christmas [bought Silverbridge].His son Gordon lived on here; and on his death in 1968 [sic – Creggan records say 1972] left it to the present owner, who first came to stay at Silverbridge as a boy in 1929. House and owner have to date gallantly withstood the pressures of the Troubles in South Armagh with the aid and support of a pack of dogs and a flock of goats. SOURCE: Buildings of Armagh.

ii.     Elsie Muriel COULTER [267] was born in 1894 in Liverpool, Englands and died on 1Jan 1952 in Liscalgot House, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh aged 58.

iii.   Andrew Gordon COULTER [4938]8 was born in 1896 in Liverpool, England and died on 26 Jun 1972 in. Probably Silverbridge House, Co. Louth' aged 76. Andrew married Eleanor MORGAN [6563] [MRIN: 1932], daughter of David MORGAN [6564] and Mary Elizabeth [10121], on 10 Apr 1929 in All Hallows, Allerton, Lancashire, England.16 Eleanor was born in 1904 and died on 25 Mar 19867 aged 82.

Fourth Generation (Great-Grandchildren)

 

17. Samuel COULTER [7357]' was born on 24 Jun 1887 and died on 9 Nov 1947 of Glassdrumman, Parish Of Creggan, Co. Armagh2 aged 60.Samuel married Agnes STEVENSON [7389[1 [MRIN: 2760] after 1911. Agnes was born in 1897 and died on 30 Jul 1965 aged 68.

The child from this marriage was:

i. Mary Eleanor COULTER [7388]3 was born in 1935 and died on 13 Oct 19942 aged 59.

26. Elsie Muriel COULTER [267] was born in 1894 in Liverpool, England and died on 1 Jan 1952 in Liscalgot House, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh aged 58. Elsie married David GILMORE [266]5 [MRIN: 198], son of Eliezer GILMORE [88] and Sarah JACKSON [245], on 9 Dec 1920 in The Bride's Residence, Silverbridge House, Dundalk.' David was born on 27 Apr 1878 in Probably Liscalgot' and died on 18 Aug 19596 aged 81.

Children from this marriage were:

i.       Andrew GILMORE [387]7 was born in 1922 and died on 11 Apr 1958 in Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast aged 36.

ii.     Elizabeth Muriel GILMORE [388] was born on 24 Apr 1924 in Liscalgot House, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh and died on 3 Jul 2005 in Armagh aged 81.

 

 

Fifth Generation (Great Great-Grandchildren)

30. Elizabeth Muriel GILMORE [388] was born on 24 Apr 1924 in Liscalgot House, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh and died on 3 Jul 2005 in Armagh aged 81. Another name for Elizabeth was Pat. Elizabeth married Wilmor J. McCALL [389] [MRIN: 264] on 16 Apr 1946 in Creggan Parish Church, Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh. Wilmor was born in 1917 and died on 21 Apr 1979 in Residence, Armagh City aged 62.
