In the 1705 December 4 - Will of Samuel JACKSON , there are bequests to 4 children – described as nieces or nephews - probably children of his sisters (unless they are grand-nephews or grand-nieces):

  • Nephew Wm EMPSON of Dublin
  • Nephew W. MADDEN of Killmon [Could this be Killmaconnell, Parish of Macosquin, Coleraine?]
  • Niece Mrs. Mary GILES NOTE: This is her married name. She could be a daughter of a brother of Samuel JACKSON or a daughter of one of his sisters.
  • Nephew James HAMILL

Daughters of Rev Richard JACKSON – and a mystery.

NOTE: I am trying to determine who the mothers of these nieces and nephews might be. The evidence to date from wills:

William JACKSON’s 1688 will NOTE: His daughter Jennett JACKSON is not mentioned. She may have died in 1684, shortly after the death of her only child. Her husband was Oliver NORTH.

  • Three sisters are described by their married name. We have no death dates for any of them, nor any indication about whether these were their first husbands. Between 1688 and 1705, they could have been widowed and remarried.
    • Dorothy WALKER
    • Mary BRIGGS. Since there were three daughters named Mary, the first two likely died young.
    • Hannah BOND
  • Three other sisters mentioned are likely unmarried since no surname other than JACKSON is attached to them:
    • Abigail JACKSON
    • Vigessima JACKSON and
    • Ruth JACKSON

1688 Sept 22. Betham Funeral Entries. The will of William JACKSON, son of Rev. Richard JACKSON. Two sisters are mentioned.

  • Hannah married to Major BOND.
  • Dorothy married to Thomas WALKER of Leeds, merchant of Leeds.

1695 July 29 - Will of Jane JACKSON The 2nd wife of Rev. Richard JACKSON. Three daughters are mentioned.

  • Mary BRIGGS
  • Abigail JACKSON I have her husband as Rev. John JACKSON, but the evidence is merely circumstantial.
  • Vigessima BOUCHE

1705 December 4 - Will of Samuel JACKSON

  • Sister BOND is the only sister mentioned.

1726 Nov 5th Will of Leonard JACKSON

  • Mary BRIGGS née JACKSON;
  • Vigessima BOUCH[E] née JACKSON;
