Sir Thomas Jackson and the ‘Open Door’

At the banquet of the American Asiatic Association on 8th May, Sir Thomas Jackson[1] urged that there should be no dismemberment of China, that there should be an open door to commerce, and that Great Britain and United States should stand shoulder to shoulder the purpose of keeping open markets for the trade of the world.
